Happy Father's Day to the wonderful men in my life. First to my father who has always been kind, generous, supportive, and fun. Second, to my father-in-law who is also kind, uplifting, and a spiritual strength. And then to the love of my life, Trent, who has also been the perfect dad and father to our four kids. He has been my parenting partner. We have done it together and supported each other along this journey. It hasn't been easy. It has been much more rocky than I ever imagined when we started 26 years ago. But, we have done it together. Always trying to improve day by day and decision by decision. Joy came today when I thought about how grateful I am to be able to spend the rest of our forevers together.

I DID IT! I completed an entire year of blogging daily (minus a few days in June when I totally forgot with wedding plans and cruise plans but added four days I to one post so technically I only missed three days of an entire year). This blog has helped me realize that joy comes when we are actively seeking it. Without that action, I wouldn’t have recognized all these little things that make me happy. Hopefully this is a lesson I will remember my entire life. I think this quote by Robert Louis Stevenson says it exactly right and is the perfect spot to end this year of joy seeking.

McKenna surprised us by visiting today. I may have gotten a little testy-eyed when I saw her car in the driveway when we came home from church. She would help me get the Christmas decorating finished. I’ve really struggled with that this year. She helped us all laugh and we loved visiting with her. I love my children. They are a great source of joy. Now I eagerly await her text saying she has made it home.
