Today I got to teach h my class all day. Just me. Doing my thing. Not sharing my people. It was fun. They were quiet (well as quiet as they needed to be). We had fun. We worked hard. I realized I liked teaching them. That was a moment of joy. I like helping prospective teachers gain classroom experience. It is a good career. I want to help them enjoy it. But, I need to re-evaluate my decision to host another next semester. I may be in need of a break - nine is a lot. It might be best for all of us. There is joy in knowing so can make that choice and either way is good.

I DID IT! I completed an entire year of blogging daily (minus a few days in June when I totally forgot with wedding plans and cruise plans but added four days I to one post so technically I only missed three days of an entire year). This blog has helped me realize that joy comes when we are actively seeking it. Without that action, I wouldn’t have recognized all these little things that make me happy. Hopefully this is a lesson I will remember my entire life. I think this quote by Robert Louis Stevenson says it exactly right and is the perfect spot to end this year of joy seeking.

McKenna surprised us by visiting today. I may have gotten a little testy-eyed when I saw her car in the driveway when we came home from church. She would help me get the Christmas decorating finished. I’ve really struggled with that this year. She helped us all laugh and we loved visiting with her. I love my children. They are a great source of joy. Now I eagerly await her text saying she has made it home.
